Blommers secures second triathlon All-American honor
TEMPE, ARIZONA — Central College’s senior triathlete Lindsey Blommers (Pella) was named a second team All-American Thursday after her performance at the USA Triathlon Collegiate National Championships Saturday.
Blommers took 14th place in the 12-team NCAA Division III field, earning second team All-American accolades in consecutive seasons.
Completing the sprint triathlon in 1 hour, 19 minutes, 0 seconds, Blommers was the top finisher for the Dutch team that finished fourth.
Blommers completed the 750-meter swim of the sprint triathlon in 16 minutes and 15 seconds. She followed that up with a time of 40:33 in the 20-kilometer bike and a 24:06 5K run. She was eight minutes off the pace of Hailey Poe’s (North Central College [Ill.]) winning time of 1:10.47.
As an athletics department, Central has an illustrious history of All-American honorees. Blommers is among 271 student-athletes in school history to be named an All-American across 20 sports.
