CLIVE, Iowa — Iowa Lottery officials have released the following statement after the delay of Monday night’s world-record Powerball drawing.

“One of the 48 jurisdictions that sells Powerball is still completing required security protocols related to sales and play data. Just like the Iowans who are holding a Powerball ticket, we’re eager for this jurisdiction to finish its work, so the drawing can be held and America learns the winning Powerball numbers.

“We are proud that Iowans have had fun responsibly playing Powerball and that our team had cleared all security protocols for the drawing to occur. We anticipated the drawing would occur on schedule, but the rigorous security procedures in Powerball, and all our games, exist to protect the integrity and fairness of the lottery. It is imperative that the protocols be followed in every jurisdiction, even if that means a delay.”

The Iowa Lottery looks forward to sharing the drawing results and video as soon as possible.
