Esther Jean Dye, 96, of Omaha, Nebraska, died Sunday, October 2, 2022, at the Westgate Assisted Living Center in Omaha. She was born February 23, 1926, near Leighton, Iowa, the daughter of Leonard Peter and Jenny Vander Voort Valster.

Esther attended country school near Leighton. Following school, she stayed home to help her mom and sisters on the family farm.

On June 3, 1953, she was united in marriage to Hugh L. Dye, Jr, in Oskaloosa. To this union four children were born, John, Jane, Gina, and Linda.

In 1965, the family moved to Omaha, Nebraska. Esther stayed home to care for her family and home for a short time. After a few years at home, Esther took a job at the Campbell Soup Company in Omaha. She retired from Campbell Soup Company after over 20 years of service.

Esther was a fifty plus year member of the Central Presbyterian Church in Omaha. She enjoyed traveling with Hugh, and spending time with her family.

Her family includes her three children; John (& Kristin) Dye of Chesterfield, Missouri, Gina Dye of Omaha, Nebraska, and Linda Dye of Omaha, Nebraska; three grandchildren, Thomas (& Danielle) Dye, Andrea Dye (& fiancé Mac Cunningham), and Karin (& Adam) Moreaux; two great grandchildren, Henry Dye and Greta Dye; and many nieces and nephews.

Esther was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh Dye, Jr. on April 29. 2004; a daughter, Jane Dye; a grandson, Michael Dye; four sisters: Wautrina Covey, Ada Drost, Leona Beyer, and Marge Lillie.

Graveside funeral services and burial will be held on Monday, October 10, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. in the Sixteen Cemetery north of What Cheer with Carl Drost officiating.
For those wishing to attend the graveside service a procession will form at the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa at 10:15. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
The family will be at the Bates Funeral Chapel on Monday morning from 9 until 10:15 to greet friends and relatives.
Memorials may be made to The Sixteen Cemetery Association.
