Indians Freshman Football Finds A Win In Cedar Rapids

The Oskaloosa Freshman football team took the bus to Cedar Rapids on Friday night to play the Washington Warriors and came away with a 35-13 victory. The moved the freshman record to 7-1 on the season.

The Defense came ready to play as they held Washington to 187 yds rushing and -1 yards passing on the night and they had 3 take aways. Leading the way for the Indians on the tackle chart was Trey Parks(21), Parker Jordan(11), Heavon Knox(10), Brock Beerbower(8), Landon Romas(7), Cash Hall(7), Kayne Boender(6), Kaiden Parker(5), AJ Walker(4), Max Roach(3), Seth Bishop(2), Omar Garcia(2), Bryson Ayala(2), Elijah Roy(2), and Holden Braundmeier(1). The Indians 3 takeaways came from a fumble recovery by Beerbower and 2 interceptions by Parks. The defense also earned a safety in the second half on a nice effort by Knox and Beerbower.

The O-line played a great game as the offense had 28 carries for 237 yards and 4 touchdowns running the ball and another 102 yards and 1 touchdown through the air on the night. Leading the running game for the Freshman Indians was AJ Walker with 177 yards and 3 touchdown runs. The other touchdown run came on a carry by Max Roach. Other ball carriers were Kaiden Parker with 15 yards, Kayne Boender with 5 yards and Heavon Knox with 8 yards. Catching the passes for the Indians were Roach with 78 yards and 1 TD, Linus Morrison with 13 yards and Kaiden Parker with 11 yards. Throwing the ball Friday night was done by Kayne Boender who ended up 102 yards and the 1 touchdown pass.

Next up for the Freshman Indian football team is an away game at Cedar Rapids Xavier on Friday night starting at 4:45.
