ISU Extension and Outreach, Mahaska County, 4H Honor Council and Mahaska County Farm Bureau partnered together to put on their first Farm to Table Event in Mahaska County. The event featured foods from local producers who also attended the dinner. The producers shared why they chose the profession of growing food for the benefit of others.

Meats, cheese, fresh fruits and vegetables were provided by Frisian Farms, Jager Land and Livestock, Plate Pork, Pleasant Grove Homestead and Riverside Farms. The food was deliciously prepared by Shari Westercamp. The menu included cheese and beef charcuterie boards as an appetizer, side salad of fresh greens, Ribeye steak, marinated grilled chicken kabobs, roasted red potatoes, garlic green beans, watermelon cups, fresh baked rolls, and dutch pumpkin pie and apple crisp for dessert.

Guitarist, S. Sean Six, played beautiful background music during the event which was held at the Livestock Pavillion on the Southern Iowa Fair grounds. 4-H Honor Council members served the food while the attendees were able to sit and socialize with each other. Sponsors of the Farm to Table dinner were Bank Iowa, Mahaska Drug, MidWest One Bank, the Southern Iowa Fair Association and Mahaska Farm Bureau. Their donations made it possible for 4-H Honor Council to raise over $500 to go toward their 2023 community service projects.
