OMS 8th Grade Volleyball Sweeps Newton

The 8th-grade team was in action last night with a full SWEEP against the Newton Cardinals!

The A team won 2-0 with scores 25-20 and 25-9. All 7 players worked together to contribute to the win. Cylee Smith had 3 kills and 4 aces. Haylee Parker had 1 kill, 11 assists, and 3 aces. Jenna Harbour had 5 kills. Cadence Grubb had 4 kills and 5 aces. Hannah VanArkel had 4 aces. Celli Pilcher had 7 digs and 7 aces. Ireland McGraw had 1 kill, 1 block, and 2 aces.

The B team also battled together for a 2-0 win with game scores of 25-15 and 25-19. Kennedi Wright had 1 kill and 1 ace. Carly Hammond had 3 digs. Kyleigh Carmer had 3 kills and 5 aces. Kaylee Main had 5 aces. Aleigha Sheets had 2 kills. Leah Lorentzen had 2 aces. Emily Medina had 2 kills. Kenna Grubb had 10 aces.

C team won all six games by scores of 15-4, 15-4, 15-6, 15-7, 15-13, and 15-5. They were dominant at the serving line and played solid defense for the night. Emma Rowley and Katelynn Watts led the team with ten aces and nine aces, respectively. Katelynn also contributed two kills. Adicen Briggs gave us four aces. Brooklyn Coenen had three aces and three kills while Paige Vandermeiden had three aces and two kills. Lucy McKim, Hailey Montgomery, Zayva Claussen, and Maddy Brown each had one ace, and Maddy added three kills to the total as well.

We travel to Pella on Monday the 10th and then finish up the season at home on the 11th. The girls would love to see you at that last home game as we try to avenge our loss against Knoxville.
