Evelyn Irene Campbell, age 90, of Albia, IA, passed away on Friday, September 16, 2022, at Oakwood Specialty Care in Albia. Evelyn was born on May 15, 1932 at a farm home near Hornick, IA in Woodbury County, to Arthur James and Irene Beatrice (Smith) Beem.
Evelyn grew up attending school and graduated from Holly Springs High School with the class of 1950. She then attended Iowa State University.
On June 15, 1952, she was united in marriage to Melvin Roy Campbell at Holly Springs Christian Church in Holly Springs, IA. Evelyn and Melvin were blessed with 3 children, Carol, Russel, and Jeanne. They shared 68 years of marriage prior to Melvin’s passing on September 8, 2020.
Evelyn worked as an insurance clerk at McCrary-Rost Clinic in Lake City, Iowa and later as an optician at Heartland Eye Care in Albia.
Evelyn loved piano and organ music, was a talented musician, playing the church piano from the age of 10 years old. She was a member of the Cornerstone Community Church in Albia for 35 years.
Evelyn is survived by a daughter, Carol (& Larry) May and their children, Victoria (& Gregory) Thorne and Michelle (& Matthew) Rabinowitz; a son, Russel (& Stephanie) Campbell and their children, Brent (& Jaclyn) Campbell and Corinne (& Matthias) Niska; a daughter, Jeanne (& Steve) Crall and their children, Audreanna Lambert, Brittney Crall and Katelyn Crall; 11 great grandchildren; and her sisters:Janette Koskey, Mary Fischer, and Nancy Radig.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin; parents, Arthur and Irene Beem; and a brother, Jim Beem.
Per Evelyn’s wishes, her body has been cremated.
A memorial service will be held at a later date as well as a private family burial at the Fayetteville National Cemetery in Fayetteville, AR.
An open memorial has been established to the family.
