John Westercamp, 41 of Colfax, passed away Friday, September 9, 2022 at his home in Colfax. John Derek Westercamp, the son of Scott and Carol (Snook) Westercamp, was born on May 4, 1981 in Des Moines, Iowa.

John attended and graduated from Saydel High School in 1999.

John was a member of operating engineer Local 234 and held various heavy equipment certifications and worked at many different construction jobs.

The joy of his life was his daughter, Jessica. They enjoyed watching movies, playing Lego’s together, hunting, fishing, camping and all outdoor activities. John was proud of his extensive fireworks display every year with the help of Jessica.

He is survived by his daughter, Jessica Westercamp of Ankeny; his parents, Scott and Carol Westercamp of Ankeny; his brother, Dan (& Alicia) Westercamp of Colfax; his sister, Amanda Westercamp of Ankeny; his nieces and nephews: Kalob (& Natalija) Westercamp (and their daughter, Olivia), Anthony Westercamp, Makenna Westercamp, Matthew Hall and Andrew Hall; his grandmother, Elizabeth Westercamp of Grinnell; and many other friends and relatives.

John was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, John Westercamp; and his maternal grandparents, Floyd and Joan Snook.

Memorial services will be held on Friday, September 16, 2022 at the Fort Des Moines Open Bible Church, 1116 Army Post Road, beginning at 2:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established for his daughter, Jessica, and may be sent to the Holland-Coble Funeral Home, In Care of John Westercamp, P.O. Box 727, Montezuma, Iowa 50171.

Holland-Coble Funeral Home of Montezuma is in charge of the arrangements.
