Kathryne “Kareen” Irene (Coady) Garrison, age 78, of Nevada, Missouri, formerly of Albia, passed away on Monday, August 22, 2022, at Freeman Hospital in Joplin. Kareen was born on February 17, 1944, in Ottumwa to John Edward and Mary (Lynch) Coady.

Kareen grew up attending school and graduated from the Albia High School with the class of 1962. She later attended Indian Hills Community College studying Culinary Arts.

Kareen was united in marriage to Robert Garrison and to this union 3 children, Kevin, Chris, and Kelly, were born.

Kareen worked as a secretary at Northern Propane before going to work in banking. She worked at First Iowa State Bank in Albia, South Ottumwa Savings Bank in Ottumwa, and then Heritage State Bank in Nevada, MO, retiring in 2008.

Kareen was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Albia and was very strong in her faith. In her younger years, she was an active member of 4-H. She enjoyed reading and was talented at embroidery and knitting, making numerous afghans and potholders. She and Bob enjoyed being outdoors and camping. Above all else, Kareen loved spending time with her friends and family. The holidays were always a favorite time for her, always cooking the turkey and making her delicious desserts.

Kareen is survived by her husband, Bob Garrison; 3 children: Kevin (& Stacy) Garrison, Chris (& Tiffany) Garrison, and Kelly Garrison; 7 grandchildren: Kevin Seay, Ryker Garrison, Fallyn Garrison, Brock Garrison, Adriana Garcia, Mae Garrison, and Allister Pratt; siblings, Donnie (& Diana Rood) Coady and Justine (& George) Collins; and a sister-in-law, Donna Coady. Kareen is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, and good friends.

Kareen is preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Mary; 2 brothers, Jim Coady and a brother in infancy; and a sister, Bernadine Coady-Greiner.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 26, 2022, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Georgetown, IA, with Father Mark Yates, C.PP.S. officiating, with a luncheon to follow at the Georgetown Hall.
