Marian Van Den Heuvel, 85, of Fremont, IA, passed away Thursday, August 25, 2022, at the Oskaloosa Care Center in Oskaloosa. Marion was born October 9, 1936, in Pease, Minnesota, the daughter of Henry & Jennie (Kiel) Den Adel.
Marian graduated from Milaca High School with the class of 1954. Following graduation she moved with her cousin Louise to Oskaloosa, Iowa.
Marian went to work at Van Zetten Produce as a bookkeeper.
On June 13, 1958, she was united in marriage to Jerome Van Den Heuvel in Pease, Minnesota. They were blessed with a son, Mike and a daughter Lynn.
Marian stayed home to help Jerome on the farm and care for her family and home. In addition to farming, Jerome and Marian purchased the Fremont Elevator, and Marian was the bookkeeper for the elevator until her retirement.
Marian loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was an active member of the Cedar Christian Reformed Church in Cedar, Iowa, where she served in various capacities including being the treasurer of the church for many years. She was also active with Willing Workers at the Oskaloosa Christian School in Oskaloosa, Iowa.
For the past 25 years, Marian and Jerome enjoyed the frigid Iowa winters from the warmth of Alamo Palms in southern Texas. She was always willing to give of her time and talents and quickly found ways to serve the Lord working with others to provide shelter, furnishings, and Bibles to the less fortunate in the area. Marian enjoyed making quilts and curtains for the Hands of Hope Mission, a house building project in Mexico, and she also devoted many hours at the school in Texas.
Her family includes a son, Mike (& Kriste) Van Den Heuvel of Cedar; a daughter, Lynn (& Scott) Koldenhoven of Colorado Springs; 2 grandchildren, Kate (& Adam) De Jong and Grant (& Lacey) Van Den Heuvel; 4 great grandchildren: Cobie and Kaden De Jong and Adleigh and Jaxon Van Den Heuvel; brothers and sisters in law: Yvonna and Larry Williams of Texas, Alta and Dave Rasmussen of Nebraska, Doris and Jon Nibbelink of Iowa; and a very special cousin, Louise Spoelstra of Minnesota.
