Loren Robert “Bob” Bay, age 77, of Albia, passed away on Saturday, May 14, 2022, at his home in Albia. Bob was born on February 20, 1945, at home on the farm in Monroe County to Loren and Hattie (Kittle) Bay.

Bob grew up and attended school in Eddyville, graduating with the Class of 1963.

On June 4, 1966, Robert was united in marriage to Marie Silverio at the First Methodist Church in Albia. To this union, 3 children were born, Joe, Steve, and Teresa. Robert and Marie shared 52 years of marriage prior to her passing on February 10, 2019.

Bob was a hard worker and lifelong farmer. He row cropped as well as raising hogs and cattle.

Bob enjoyed being outdoors, farming, and hunting, especially going to South Dakota on prairie dog hunts with his family. He also enjoyed his 1964 Ford Galaxy, taking the family on Sunday rides, and going to car shows. He loved his dog, Dolly and cat, Miss Kitty. Above all, family was everything to Bob and he cherished all of the time spent with them, especially his grandchildren and great grandchild.

Bob is survived by his 3 children: Joe (& Jacqueline) Bay of Albia, Teresa (& James) Rossbach of Columbia, MO, and Steve Bay of St. Petersburg, FL; 5 grandchildren: Robert (& Jenifer), Jeffrey, Jessica, Nathaniel, and Jonathan; a great grandson, Dylan; and 2 sisters, Della Ruth Flattery and Loraine Findley. Bob is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, and good friends.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Marie; and his parents, Loren and Hattie.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 18, 2022, at the Tharp Funeral Home in Albia with Bob’s family present from 5:00 p.m.- 8:00 p.m. to greet family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 19, 2022, at the Tharp Funeral Home in Albia with Pastor Roger Henry officiating. Burial will follow services at Hayden Chapel Cemetery in Monroe County.

An open memorial has been established to the family to be determined at a later date.
