OHS Girls Track Finish Second At Pella Co-Ed Meet

by Betsy Luck

The team brought home a second place finish at the Pella Co-ed meet. The temperatures were wildly different from any other meet this season. All athletes had to battle through 90 degree temps.
The team brought hom 5 individual championships:
Faith DeRonde in the shot put and the discus setting a new personal record of 145-8 which moved her to second place on the All time Top 10 list past her mom Sarah DeRonde.
Maleah Walker in the long jump
Jordan Czerwinski in the 400 hurdles
And the Distance Medley Relay of: Maddy Moorman, Gracie DeRonde, Hannah Quang and Sage Adam who had a gutsy anchor for the win.

The 4×200 of Macie Krier, Jordan Czerwinski, Faith DeRonde and Maleah Walker tied the school record of 1:47.83 that we set in 1988!

Other Personal Records included Hayley VanArkel in the high jump, Kelsie Hicks in the long jump.

This was a great tuneup for the District meet on Thursday at Bondurant. Field events start at 4:00 with running starting at 4:30
