Kim Koch, 61 of Deep River passed away Tuesday afternoon, March 22, 2022 at her daughter’s home near Montezuma after a brief illness. Kimberly Renae Koch, the daughter of Jerry and Karen (Derby) Cranston, was born on January 26, 1961 in Oskaloosa, Iowa.

Kim attended Deep River Millersburg School.

Kim worked at Montezuma Manufacturing for a short time. She then worked at Brook Haven Nursing Home in Brooklyn before working at the Montezuma Nursing and Rehabilitation Center as a nurses aid and housekeeper for over 20 years. She then had the privilege to babysit her grandchildren for the last several years.

Kim was very crafty and enjoyed decorating the house for every holiday and also decorating her family’s graves. She was known to be able to take anything and make it look like a rose. She also enjoyed listening to music doing crossword books, singing karaoke, fishing, camping, Iowa Hawkeye football, riding around Deep River on her golf cart and above all spending time with her grandchildren.

Kim’s memory will be honored by her children, Derec (Rachael Nigg) Koch of Deep River, Kandi (Glen Brown) McDonald of Montezuma and Jeri Koch of Deep River; four grandchildren, Braden McDonald, Blake McDonald, Brinley Brown and Jocelyn Nigg; a brother, Michael Cranston of Deep River; a sister, Laurie (Marvin) Tanke of Guernsey; two uncles, Jim Cranston and Greg Cranston; an aunt, Pamela Glandon and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jerry and Karen Cranston; a brother, Mark Cranston and a brother in infancy, Timothy Cranston.

Funeral services will begin at 10:00 am Saturday, March 26, 2022 at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home in Montezuma.
Burial will be held in the Golden Rod Cemetery in Deep River.
Visitation will begin after 12:00 pm Friday, March 25, 2022 at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home with the family present from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
Memorials may be made in Kim’s families name to be determined at a later time.

Holland-Coble Funeral Home of Montezuma is in charge of arrangements.
