Central puts two on women’s all-conference basketball team
PELLA—Central College’s Kelsea Hurley (junior, Scottsdale, Ariz., Desert Mountain HS) and Allison Van Gorp (freshman, Pella, Pella Christian HS) both received American Rivers all-conference women’s basketball recognition.
They were each named to the second team. It’s the third consecutive all-conference honor for Hurley, who was a first-team selection last year and a second-team pick the previous season. A 5-foot-11 guard, She averaged 13.8 points, 5.6 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 1.2 steals and 0.9 blocks for the Dutch. Hurley was also Central’s top free throw shooter, hitting 81.3%.
Van Gorp, a 6-3 center, was Central’s second-leading scorer behind Hurley with 13.4 points per game along with a team-best 9.0 rebounds and 1.5 blocks. She also led the Dutch in field goal percentage at 56.3%.
A young Central squad posted a 6-15 overall record and a 4-11 league mark.
