Jeffery “King” Crago, 73 of rural New Sharon passed away Thursday, March 3, 2022 at his home. Jeffery King Crago, the son of Charles and Beulah (Hanson) Crago, was born on March 15, 1948 in Oskaloosa, Iowa.
King attended school in California before completing his 8th grade education in New Sharon. King began working at a young age bailing hay and working for his father at the New Sharon gas station.
On December 4, 1969, Jeff was united in marriage to Rowein Sue Danner in Missouri. To this union three sons where born, Jeffery, John and Charles.
King worked for Oskaloosa Cab before working for Oskaloosa Produce for several years. He also held jobs at Lost Creek Coal Mine, Clow Valve and Indiana Woods Fiber where he retired due to his failing health.
One of his greatest enjoyments was working on his cars with his sons. He also enjoyed camping; especially with his best friend, John Godlove, sitting outside under the shade tree talking with his neighbors, spending time with his grandchildren and taking care of his pony.
His memory will be cherished by his wife of 53 years, Sue Crago of New Sharon; his sons, Jeffery Crago of Oskaloosa, John Crago of Knoxville and Charles Crago of New Sharon; 10 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
King was preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter, Tonya Marie Crago; and his three siblings: Nolan Crago, Louis Crago and Diana Davis.
Memorial services will begin at 11:00 am Wednesday, March 9, 2022 at the Lighthouse Church in New Sharon.
A visitation/reception will be held after the service in the fellowship hall of the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family’s name to help with final expenses.
