NJCAA National Rankings Include Second Week Baseball and Softball Regular Season

Charlotte, NC – The NJCAA National Office released the second installment of rankings for the regular season, including Division I and II softball and all three divisions of baseball.

Below is a summary of the rankings from Monday’s announcement:

DI Baseball | Walters State (AL) took over the No. 1 spot by three points in the latest NJCAA DI Baseball poll. Central Arizona dropped to No. 2 and preseason favorite McLennan (TX) moved back into the top-five. Dyersburg State (TN) improved to No. 10 and Eastern Oklahoma State earned the No. 14 spot.

DII Baseball | In the NJCAA DII Baseball poll, East Central (MS) joined the top-five and after an incredible 18-0 start, Gaston (NC) entered the lineup at No. 10. Last year’s runner-up Western Oklahoma State advanced four spots into No. 11. Pearl River (MS) and Kirkwood (IA) improved within the top-three.

DIII Baseball | The NJCAA DIII Baseball poll saw Niagara County (NY) drop to No. 2 from No. 1 as RCSJ-Gloucester (NJ) captured the top-spot. Dallas-Eastfield (TX) improved two spots to No. 5 this week, while Richland (TX) and Northern Essex (MA) rounded out the top-10.

DI Softball | Florida SouthWestern remained the No. 1 team in the NJCAA DI Softball poll and Wallace State-Hanceville improved to No. 2. Yavapai (AZ) dropped from No. 3 to No. 2 and Seminole State (OK) and Odessa (TX) both joined the top-five. Three new teams entered the ranking this week including Gulf Coast State (FL), Rose State (OK), and Paris (TX).

DII Softball | The NJCAA DII Softball poll dropped Phoenix (AZ) to No. 2 and moved Itawamba (MS) to No. 1 after a successful week. Jones (MS) advanced two spots to claim No. 5 and Southwest Mississippi’s undefeated season sees them climb to No. 15. Kansas City Kansas clocked-in at No. 10 and Madison (WI) earned the No. 19 spot.

Week 3 polls for DI, DII, and DIII baseball, as well as DI and DII softball will return on Monday, March 14. DIII softball regular season polls will return on Monday, April 4. Men’s and women’s lacrosse regular season rankings will return on Monday, March 14.
