Oskaloosa 7th Grade Boys Take On Mustangs

The boys 7th grade basketball team went on the road Thursday evening to take on the Mustangs of Prairie City Monroe. The Indians came out ready to play and jumped out to an early lead. It was back and forth as the Indians trailed by as much as 6 points but pulled out to a 11-10 halftime lead. The Indians jumped out to a quick 2 half lead on a 3 by Tommy North. The Mustangs made a late charge but cool heads and clutch shooting at the F.T. line allowed the Indians to win 34-31. Leaders for the Indians were Cael Ashman with 13 points, 4 steals and 1 assist. Tyler Edgar with 9 points and 2 rebounds. Tommy North with points, 4 steals and 3 assists. Kinnick Wright added 4 points and 1 steal. Ayden Plumb and Jeremiah Reeves added 3 and 2 rebounds respectively.

In the B game the Indians got off to a slow start but started clicking in the 2nd half with the guard tandem of Kale Van Wyk(13 points, 3 steals and 1 rebound) and Courtland Metier( 10 points) wreaking havoc on defense forcing the Mustang Guards into 8 turnovers enroute to a 32-28 Indian win for the B teams second victory of the year. Other contributers to the Indian victory were Will Steen with 6 points and 2 rebounds. Kaden Toubekis and Brady Shinn( 1 steal and 1 assist) with 3 points apiece. Carter Bonnett chipped in 2 points. The C team played an half and bowed 8-2 with Stuart Fleener picking up the lone basket for the Indians. Harley Rose pulled down 2 rebounds and Nicholas Webber cleared 1 board in the loss.

The Indians keep it on the road Monday night with a 4 game set at Indianola.
