Oskaloosa Indians And Oskaloosa Crusaders Battle

The 7th grade Boys Basketball A and B teams were in action against the Crusaders from Oskaloosa Christian Thursday evening. Leading scorers for the Indians were Kinnick Wright and Cael Ashman with 6 points apiece. Brady Shinn added a 3 point basket while Tyler Edgar and Ayden Plumb added 2 pointes apiece. Courtland Metier chipped in 1. In the first half the Crusaders led the charge and the Indians did not answer to trail 32-1 at the half. To begin the 2nd half the Indians began to drive and dish and found some gaps in the zone. Oskaloosa scored more points in the 3rd quarter than they did in the 1st and 2nd quarter combined. The Indians also got some stops on defense and allowed just 10 points in the 3rd quarter and trailed 42-13. After doing a great job of boxing out, for the 2nd game in row the Indian defense fouled out a post player for the opposing team and held Oskaloosa Christian to 12 points while managing 7 points of their own but ultimately fell 50-24.
In the B game the Indians also struggled mightily in the the first half trailing 14-0. After trailing 22-2 at the end of the 3rd quarter the Indians found some scoring. Courtland Meiter broke through for 5 points and Kale Van Wyk added a bucket and Oskaloosa cut the Crusader lead to 28-7. Kale ended the game with 4 points and Kaden Toubekis added a point as the Indians(still looking for their first win fell 36-11.
The Indians will get back to work as they Take on Norwalk at home Monday evening in a 3 game series. Go Indians!
