William Penn Falls to Baker

Baldwin City, Kan.–The Statesmen women’s wrestling team traveled to the Jayhawk State Thursday, but came up short in a 24-11 setback to #7 Baker in a Heart of America Athletic Conference dual meet.

WPU (1-4, 1-2 Heart) dropped all six contested matches, but claimed a pair of forfeits to the Wildcats (6-2, 3-0 Heart).

After losing at 116 pounds, the visitors got on the board at 123 pounds when Mami Selemani (So., Iowa City, Iowa, Business Management) tallied a team point by scoring in her 10-3 setback to Nichole Moore.

143-pounder Ashleigh Denny (Fr., El Paso, Texas, Undecided) and 170-pounder MayLee Edwards (Fr., Newton, Kan., Psychology) also earned five points each by receiving forfeits.

Next Up: William Penn travels to Centerville to face Indian Hills CC in dual-meet action at 7 p.m.
