John “Zeus” Henry Ceglar, age 74, of Albia, passed away on Monday, December 6, 2021, at his home. Zeus was born on March 10, 1947, at the Smith Hospital in Albia to Joe and Maxine (Lancial) Ceglar.

Zeus grew up attending school in Albia and graduated from the Albia High School.

Zeus enlisted in the United States Army and served his country during Vietnam.

Zeus worked at Chamberlains in Albia until they closed and then went to work at the VA Hospital in Knoxville for many years.

He was a member of the American Legion in Albia and enjoyed going there and to Hardees for coffee and to visit with friends. He loved being outdoors, deer hunting and gardening. He also enjoyed canning from his garden and taking pictures of wildlife.

Zeus is survived by a daughter, Billie Jo Ceglar.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Maxine; a son, Joe; and a son in infancy.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. on Friday, December 10, 2021, at the Tharp Funeral Home in Albia, with military honors provided by the American Legion of Albia, Melrose and Lovilia, at 5:00 p.m.
