Kelly Playle, 53 of New Sharon passed away Tuesday morning, November 16, 2021 at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics. Kelly Dean Playle, the son of Lewis and Marion (Knowler) Playle, was born on January 6, 1968 in Oskaloosa, Iowa.

Kelly graduated from North Mahaska High School in 1986.

On September 29, 1995, Kelly was united in marriage to Mindi Walker at the New Sharon United Methodist Church. To this union four children were born, Landen, Ashlynn, Bryant and Sullivan.

Kelly worked at Vermeer Corporation in Pella and then Mitrisin Motors in Oskaloosa before working for Phil Morris at Phil’s Auto Stop. He worked there a few years before purchasing the business in 2017 renaming it to Hometown Auto Shop. Kelly loved his job and really enjoyed his customers and friends stopping by helping him solve the world’s problems.

Kelly also enjoyed going out to eat, Iowa Hawkeye football games and most of all spending time with his family. He loved taking his family on vacations and had already planned their next one to Universal Studios. He is a member of the New Sharon United Methodist Church.

Kelly is survived by his wife, Mindi Playle of New Sharon; his children, Landen Playle, Ashlynn Playle, Bryant Playle and Sullivan Playle; his parents, Lewis and Marion Playle of Barnes City; his sister, Mary Lou (Mark) Van Wyk of Lynnville; his nephews, Matt (Becky) Van Wyk of Indianola and Tony (Ashley) Van Wyk of Lynnville; his mother-in-law, Nancy (Tom Bayliss) Walker of New Sharon and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Gary Walker and his brother-in-law, Nicholas Walker.

Funeral services will begin at 10:30 am Friday, November 19, 2021 at the New Sharon United Methodist Church.
Burial will be held in the Barnes City Cemetery in Barnes City.
Visitation will begin at 12:00 pm Thursday, November 18, 2021 at the New Sharon United Methodist Church with the family present from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
Family requests casual wear at the visitation and the funeral.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to PROS or North Mahaska Archery Team.

Holland-Coble Funeral Home of New Sharon is in charge of arrangements.
