Carol Maschmann, 73 of Montezuma passed away Friday, November 5, 2021 at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa. Carol Lea Maschmann was born on August 25, 1948 to John and Leona Davis Hicks at Grinnell, Iowa. Carol was raised in Montezuma and was one of five siblings.

Carol graduated from Montezuma High School with the class of 1966.

Carol married Kenneth Maschmann on January 14, 1967 at the Montezuma Presbyterian Church. They became the parents of three children, Scotty, Sharri and Partner.

Carol spent her life raising and caring for their children and helping her husband with the Maschmann Construction business bookwork. She then worked for Monte Spirits for Jan Bushong and also at Ellie’s in Montezuma.

Carol was very social and always put her family first. She attended her grandchildren’s activities, never missing an event. Carol loved having coffeetime and shopping with her friends. She enjoyed watching her TV shows of Family Feud and Wheel of Fortune.

Carol is survived by her husband, Kenny; her children: Sharri (Dallas) Carothers of Las Vegas and Partner (Sonya Grandstaff) Maschmann of Montezuma; her eleven grandchildren: Trent Maschmann, Brooke Maschmann, Ryan Maschmann, Brett Maschmann, Colton (Sierra) Maschmann, Katie (Siraj) Thomason, Ty Snook, Logan Carothers, Logan Grandstaff, Jenna Grandstaff, and Brodie Grandstaff; her great grandchildren: Mazzie Maschmann, Rocco Thomason, Bristol Thomason and Kaden Baetsle; her siblings: Jim (Meryll) Hicks of Montezuma, Jerry (Dottie) Hicks of Montezuma, and Kim Hicks of Montezuma; as well as many other relatives and friends.

Carol is preceded in death by her parents; her son, Scotty Maschmann in 2021; and a brother, Johnny Lynn Hicks.

Funeral services will begin at 10:30 am on Thursday, November 11, 2021 at the Community Hope Church in Montezuma.
Burial will be held in the Jackson Township Cemetery in Montezuma.
Visitation will begin at noon on Wednesday, November 10, 2021 with the family present from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home in Montezuma.
Memorials may be directed to the Montezuma Blue and White or the Montezuma Fire Department.
