Celest Engelbarts, 51, of Montezuma passed away on Monday, October 25, 2021 at Iowa Methodist in Des Moines, Iowa. Celest Ann Engelbarts was born on January 28, 1970 to Vern and Grace Shook in Kenai, Alaska.

Celest was raised in Kenai and graduated in 1988 from Kenai Central High School.

Celest met and married Dennis Engelbarts in 1988 and to this union four children were born, Anthony, Krista, Amber and Katie. They made their home on a farm near Montezuma. They were later divorced.

Celest was busy raising her children, helping on the family farm, as well as working at Walmart and Cunninghams in Grinnell.

Celest was an excellent cook, collected Precious Moments, collected snowmen enjoyed ranger rides with her ten year companion, Dave Farrington, and loved the outdoors. She was an excellent gardener. Celest always looked out for others putting them first and family was very important to her.

Celest is survived by her father, Vern Shook of Missouri Valley, Ia.; her children, Anthony (Deb) Engelbarts of Omaha, NE, Krista Engelbarts of Montezuma, Ia, Amber (Cody) Lundholm of Western, NE, and Katie Engelbarts of Western, NE; four grandchildren, Addison Engelbarts, Kynley Kelso, Thomas Lundholm and Miah Lyons; her siblings, Kelly Gschwend of Missouri Valley, Ia, and Andrew (Amanda) Shook of Kenai, Alaska; as well as many other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Grace Shook.

A celebration of life will be held on Friday, October 29, 2021 at the Community Hope Church in Montezuma beginning at 11:00 am.
