Patricia A. McCain, 83, of Oskaloosa, died Thursday, November 25, 2021, at the Northern Mahaska Specialty Care Center in Oskaloosa. She was born December 8, 1937, in Iowa City, Iowa, the daughter of William A. and Jennie Mariah Winn Daggett.
Early on Pat worked at Monarch Laundry in Oskaloosa for 13 years. Pat went on to work at Rolscreen (now Pella Corp.) for 21 years, retiring from there in 1998.
On March 30, 1954, she was united in marriage to Duane McCain in Montezuma. To this union two daughters were born, Ruth and Christine. Duane died on February 15, 1972. Following Duane’s death, Pat enjoyed a close friendship with James Sirovy, Jr. until his death.
She enjoyed crocheting, dancing, socializing, keeping up with her friends and family on-line, and most of all family get togethers.
Her family includes her daughter, Christine Kondoudis of Mulkeytown, Illinois; four grandchildren, William (Ronda) Almond, Lisa (Jerry) Beebe, Christopher (Janice) Edwards, and Tabitha Edwards; seventeen great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Ruth Edwards; a son in law, David Edwards; a grandson, Wayne Walker; three sisters, Phoebe Hadlock, Frances Fox, and Louise Woods; six brothers, Ted, Joe, Jim, John, Thomas, and Albert Daggett.
Funeral services will be held Monday, November 29, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel with Pastor Alvern Boetsma officiating. Burial will be in the Forest Cemetery in Oskaloosa. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will begin Sunday, November 28, 2021, after 12 noon in the Bates Funeral Chapel and the family will be at the funeral home from 1-3 Sunday afternoon to greet friends and relatives. Memorials may be made to the Good News Chapel.
