Edward Leigh Rust, age 89, of Iowa City and formerly of Oskaloosa, passed away on Sunday, November 21, 2021, at the Latern Park Specialty Care Center in Coralville, Iowa. He was born on February 26, 1932, the son of Edward and Elizabeth (Blake) Rust in Oskaloosa. He attended and graduated from the Oskaloosa High School. Edward ran salvage yards in his early years in New Sharon, Oskaloosa and later in Centerville.

He is survived by his first wife, Margaret Slycord; their children, Darrell (Toni) Rust, David Rust, Eddie (Julie) Rust, Marvin (Rebecca) Rust, Gary (Diane) Rust and Jane (James) Morrow; a brother, George Rust; a sister, Margaret (Larry) Mateer and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Edward is preceded in death by his parents, his second wife, Marge Rust; his son, Billy Rust; a sister, Carla Standish and a sister-in-law, Rilla Rust.

As per Ed’s wishes there will be no visitation or service. A private burial will be held at Forest Cemetery in Oskaloosa. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
