Osky Girls Swim Team Competes In Little Hawkeye Meet
by Makenzie Kauffman
This week the Osky Swim Girls competed in the Little Hawkeye Conference Meet Tuesday, followed by the North Central Swim Conference Meet on Saturday. These are stiff competitions, and despite most of our team feeling unwell Tuesday and only having 7 swimmers on Saturday, they showed a lot of grit to have some of their best races and swims to date.
I want to highlight senior Shannon Linder, who was selected for the NCSC All-Academic Team this Saturday. As a “fun fact,” all three of our seniors met the requirements for this honor. Congratulations to all three seniors, and a huge shout-out to Shannon for being awarded this honor! I also want to point out our two freestyle relays from Saturday, as they both had HUGE season best swims, jumped up many places from where they were seeded, and brought a lot of excitement for those swimmers and their teammates.
Attached are the scoring events from both the LHC and NCSC meets. Placing in the Top 12 at these meets is a challenge, especially in the NCSC meet where there are up to 10 heats of a given race, and we have lots of swimmers climbing their way into those Top 12 spots. I am proud of the progression of these athletes!
Thanks as always for your support, and the Indians have their final regular season meet this Thursday, October 28 at 5:00 in Fairfield vs. Fairfield and Keokuk! Hope to see lots of Osky family and friends supporting these amazing Indians!
