Lawrence Jacobs, 88, of West Des Moines, died Sunday, August 1, 2021, at MercyOne Hospice in Johnston. He was born Wednesday, August 24, 1932, in Delta, Iowa, the son of Henry Clay and Avis Harris Jacobs.
Lawrence graduated from Delta High School with the class of 1950. He continued his education at the University of Iowa and graduated with a B.S. in Business Administration in 1961.
Following graduation, he went to work for GMAC. He moved all over Iowa with GMAC living in Carroll, Cedar Rapids, Cedar Falls, and last West Des Moines. He retired from his role of Credit Manager of the State of Iowa with GMAC in 1991.
Lawrence enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially trips to Reel Lake in Canada. He always looked forward to spending time with his family. He especially loved Halloween and building corn stock houses with his grandchildren.
His family includes his three children: Neal Jacobs of Cedar Falls, Angela Jacobs of Portland, Oregon, and Joan (& Dan) Fischbach of Trenton, Missouri; and two grandchildren, Nicole and Amber.
Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Bob Jacobs.
Private family graveside service and burial will be held in the Garrett Cemetery. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
