Oskaloosa Indians Varsity Loses Lead Early In Defeat

Oskaloosa Indians Varsity watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 3-0 loss to Grinnell on Wednesday. Grinnell took the lead on a fielder’s choice in the second inning.

The pitching was strong on both sides. Grinnell pitchers struck out five, while Oskaloosa Indians Varsity sat down five.

In the second inning, Grinnell got their offense started when Kamden Criss induced Brooks Latimer to hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored.

One bright spot for Oskaloosa Indians Varsity was a single by Criss in the first inning.

Owen Coffman led things off on the hill for Grinnell. Coffman allowed two hits and zero runs over seven innings, striking out five and walking one.

Criss was on the mound for Oskaloosa Indians Varsity. The pitcher went two innings, allowing two runs on two hits, striking out two and walking one. Aiden Hildenbrand threw five innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Marcus Fresquez and Criss all had one hit to lead Oskaloosa Indians Varsity.

rinnell collected nine hits on the day. Cole Johnson and Brady Steward each racked up multiple hits for Grinnell. Johnson led Grinnell with three hits in four at bats.

Oskaloosa Indians Varsity Defeated By Grinnell

Grinnell got on the board in the first inning. An error scored one run for Grinnell.

Grinnell evened things up at two in the top of the second inning when Alex Smith grounded out, scoring one run.

Grinnell pulled away for good with one run in the third inning. In the third Will Doty singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.

Brady Steward got the start for Grinnell. The ace allowed three hits and two runs over seven innings, striking out ten and walking one.

Alex Christ toed the rubber for Oskaloosa Indians Varsity. The righthander went six innings, allowing four runs on ten hits, striking out two and walking one. Jarrett Czerwinski threw one inning in relief.

Christ, Marcus Fresquez, and Kamden Criss all had one hit to lead Oskaloosa Indians Varsity.

Grinnell saw the ball well today, racking up ten hits in the game. Colin Gibson, Doty, Isaiah Seck, and Steward each had multiple hits for Grinnell.
