Sarah Ann Hindman, age 84, formerly of Albia, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at the Hooper Care Center in Hooper, Nebraska. She moved to Fremont, Nebraska in 2016 to be closer to son, David, and his family. David, Pam, and granddaughters, Amy and Renee, were of great help to her.

Sarah was born on November 15, 1936 to Orval and Elsie (Gutch) Baird on the family farm in Monroe County near Albia, Iowa.

Sarah graduated from Albia High School in 1955. On June 12, 1955, Sarah married Jack Hindman in Blakesburg, Iowa.

Sarah was an amazing caregiver to many family members and friends. She loved her grandchildren dearly. Sarah enjoyed genealogy research and was very involved in the Monroe County Genealogical Society. She taught genealogy classes at Indian Hills Community College in Ottumwa. Sarah was an avid reader and enjoyed the Albia Public Library.

Sarah is survived by daughters: Rosie (& Mark) Limke of West Des Moines, Iowa and Carol (& Eldon) Brewer of Bloomington, Illinois; and sons: David (& Pam) Hindman of Fremont, Nebraska, Dennis (& Mary) Hindman of Spokane, Washington, and Jason (& Gina) Hindman of Knoxville, Iowa; sister, Barbara Bunch; 12 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren.

Sarah was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jack; sisters, Grace Baird and Doris Epps; granddaughter, Jenny Hindman; and brother-in-law, George Bunch.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Thursday, June 3, 2021, followed by a Memorial Service at 11:00 a.m. at the Tharp Funeral Home in Albia, Iowa. Pastor Roger Henry will officiate.

Burial will be at Blakesburg Cemetery in Blakesburg, Iowa.

Memorials may be directed to the Monroe County Genealogical Society, Monroe County Historical Museum, or the Albia Public Library.
