Alice Alberta Sly, age 93, of Eddyville died at home on May 11, 2021. She was born August 7, 1927 to Hazel May (Ross) Poe and Oscar E. Poe in Monroe County.

She was married to Berthold “Bert” Lee Sly on August 7, 1951 in Elsinore, CA. He died May 14, 1981.

She is survived by her son, Randall Sly of Sacramento, CA; sister, Yvonne De Witt of Blakesburg; half sisters, Susie Poe, Melissa Heasly; half brothers, Bud Poe and Larry Poe; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bert; sisters: Frances Van Genderen, Thelma Reissig, Alma Derry; and brother, Ervan Poe.

Per Alice’s wishes, a private Graveside Service will be held.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made for funeral expenses, and mailed to the Eddyville Funeral Chapel, 216 Walnut St. Eddyville, Iowa 52553.
