Alan Harper, 62, of Keswick, died Wednesday, May 19, 2021 in Blair, Nebraska. Alan David Harper was born December 13, 1958 in Sigourney, Iowa, the son of Donald and Lucille Little Harper.
Alan was a 1977 graduate of Tri-County high school. Alan began farming, and for a short period was a realtor.
Alan was united in marriage to Laurie June 25, 2005 at the Methodist Church in Keswick.
Alan had a passion for rodeo, where he excelled at team roping and steer wrestling. He served as director and president of IRCA for several years. He was also co-owner of William Harper Rodeo Company. He always enjoyed hazing for his son Clay as his rodeo career advanced. Alan always enjoyed caring for his livestock and was very knowledgeable about the health of most all animals. He was a member IRCA Cowboys Association and FFA.
Alan was always willing to help anyone in need and he will be remembered as a kind hearted, gentle giant.
Alan is survived by his mother, Lucille Harper; his wife, Laurie Harper; a daughter, Rachael Foley: his son, Clay (Bailey) Harper; a sister, Joyce (& Ed) Webb; and a brother, Andrew (& Sheree) Harper.
He is proceeded in death by his father, Donald Harper; and an infant daughter, Jessica Harper.
Funeral services will begin at 10:00 am on Monday, May 24, 2021 at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home in What Cheer.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 pm on Sunday, May 23, 2021.
Burial will be in the Sixteen Cemetery at Thornburg. A luncheon will be held at the Keswick Legion Hall following the burial.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the family.
