Marilyn Mueller, age 81, of Oskaloosa, passed away on June 10, 2020 in Oskaloosa, Iowa. She was born on November 1, 1938 in Mahaska County, the daughter of Dwain W. and Arvilo R. (Simonsen) Mueller.

Marilyn attended What Cheer High School and graduated with the Class of 1956. She later attended Iowa State Teachers College (now known as University of Northern Iowa) in Cedar Falls and received a certificate in teaching lower elementary.

In 1998 Marilyn was united in marriage to Jan McLeland at Community United Methodist Church in Fox River Grove, Illinois, in a ceremony officiated by her brother-in-law Reverend Morgan McLeland. Jan died on September 7, 2016.

Marilyn worked as a volunteer at Maple Ridge Assisted Living (Homestead Assisted Living) for many years.

She was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan. She enjoyed many years of companionship with her dog Pepper.

She is survived by her three sons: Marty Junkins of Holden, Missouri, Brent Junkins of Rosamond, California, and Shawn Junkins of Omaha, Nebraska.

In addition to her husband Jan, Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, June 26, 2020 at 10:30 am in the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa with Reverend Morgan McLeland officiating.
According to the rules put in place by the Iowa Department of Public Health, proper social distancing and reasonable personal protective equipment is advised for attending a religious public event.
The funeral service will be live streamed at the funeral home’s YouTube Channel for those wishing to support the family from a distance.
A private family graveside service will take place after the funeral service. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
Memorials may be made to the Stephen’s Memorial Animal Shelter.
