Steven Ruby
December 6, 1964 – April 19, 2020
Oskaloosa, Iowa | Age 55

Steven Howard Ruby, age 55, of Oskaloosa, died April 19, 2020 at University Hospitals in Iowa City. He was born December 6, 1964, at Ottumwa Hospital, Ottumwa, IA, the son of Lota Jr and Ila Marie Tennis Ruby.

Steve graduated from Fremont High School with the class of 1983.

Steve joined in marriage to Brenda Kay Gipple, November 24, 1992. To that union, two children were born. They later divorced. He joined in marriage to Vicki Hadsell, July 9, 2016.

Steve worked at various farm jobs. He spent many years helping his friends, Todd & Missy Gingrich. They and their sons, Robert and Grant, were very special friends of Steve. Robert and Grant learned if they had a question about the equipment or how to do something a certain way, Steve was just a phone call away and he would always have a patient, skilled answer to give them.

Steve loved his children and grandchildren but extremely fragile health this past year kept him from being able to spend a lot of time with them. He was not a man of many words but they were precious when he spoke. We, his family, will treasure his memory forever. He enjoyed camping with his family. He delighted in spending time with his grandchildren that adored him.

Steve is survived by his wife, Vicki; his children, Justin (& Kaitlyne Rosenbaum) Ruby of Elk Point, SD, Taylor (& Nathan Glanzer) Ruby of Onawa, IA; step-son Chris (& Erin) Gipple of Washington, IA; and two grandchildren, Bentley and Dawson; his mother, Ila Marie Ruby, of Oskaloosa; his brother, Stacy (& Staci) Ruby, of Melbourne, IA; and nephews, Ryan (& Brittany) Ruby and Lucas (& Bree McClintock) Ruby.

He was preceded in death by his father, Lota Jr Ruby.
