Andrew Van Engelenhoven, 40, of Oskaloosa, Iowa, died Friday, November 15, 2019, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Andrew was born November 20, 1978 to Arvin and Dena (VerSchuure) Van Engelenhoven in Oskaloosa, Iowa.
Andrew attended Oskaloosa High School and graduated with the Class of 1997. Andrew had a love for mechanical work from an early age when he worked in his father’s truck shop. He attended several different mechanical schools and programs to futher his education.
Andrew worked at Tousley’s Motorsports in White Bear, Minnesota before returning home to Iowa. He then worked for Vermeer until his automobile accident in 2005.
Andrew enjoyed tinkering with anything that had a motor. He always had several projects that he was working on that ranged from engine repair to rebuilding a golf cart. He was very fond of his various “toys” and recreational vehicles. Everything from airplanes to four wheelers. Andrew even pursued his pilot’s license until he was unable to complete the training from injuries sustained in 2005. He had a special love for his dogs and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Andrew is survived by his parents, Arvin and Dena Van Engelenhoven of Oskaloosa; his brothers: Richard (& Shari) Van Engelenhoven of Union, KY., Kevin (& Jessica) Van Engelenhoven of Oskaloosa, and Scott (& Tina) Van Engelenhoven of Oskaloosa; his nieces and nephews: Mason, Tyler, Paige, Preston, Emma, Kimber, Hudson and Piper; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Andrew and Dena (VerSchuure) Van Mersbergen and Cornie and Grace Van Engelenhoven; and a nephew, Carter Van Engelenhoven.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, November 21, at 10:30 am at the First Christian Reformed Church in Oskaloosa with Pastor Jonathon Spronk officiating.
Burial will be in the Forest Cemetery in Oskaloosa. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will begin Wednesday morning after 12:00 p.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel and the family will be at the funeral chapel from 5 to 7 Wednesday evening to greet friends and relatives.
As a final act of generosity, Andrew chose tissue donation to help countless others in Iowa.
