Men’s Shotgun Sports Announces First Signing

Oskaloosa–Big news for one of the newest programs for William Penn University Athletics. Head Men’s Shotgun Sports Coach Steve Heaton is excited to announce that Maclane Heinen has become the first individual to sign a Letter of Intent to compete for the program next year.

Heinen, the son of John and Tricia Heinen, is currently a senior at Pella Christian HS and he plans to major in Business Management at WPU.

Heinen excelled so far in his young career. He has several state titles in the Skeet and Sporting Clays disciplines. In addition, he has also claimed a high honor, placing second in the overall score at the state event. Heinen has also been selected twice as a National Skeet Shooting Association (NSSA) All-American. He has a national title to his name, along with a runner-up finish in NSSA competition, and is an all-State Sporting Clay team member.

“I am really excited to shoot for a school that is 100% behind a shotgun sports program,” said Heinen. “One that values education and with a coach that has a been a big part of my love for shooting.”

“Maclane is going to be an amazing addition and leader for the Men’s Shotgun Sports program,” said Coach Heaton. “He is an extraordinary, well-rounded competitive shooter in all clay target disciplines. I am super exited to have him be a part of this program and expect nothing but great things from him in the classroom and on the competition field!”
