Diana McVay, 69 of Searsboro passed away Tuesday evening, September 24, 2019 at her home. Diana Lynn McVay, the daughter of Barney and Helen (Hendrick) Pate, was born on September 8, 1950 in Fort Leavenworth, KS.

Diana graduated from Knoxville High School with the class of 1968.

On July 28, 1973, Diana was united in marriage to Larry “Butch” McVay at the Friends Church in New Sharon. To this union two children were born, Tom and Dorothy.

Diana was a homemaker and took care of their children before she went to work for the City of Searsboro. She served as the city clerk of Searsboro for several years. She also worked in the office for Grinnell Lumber, Maytag and Lifetouch before retiring.

Diana enjoyed sewing, dogs, quilting, dogs, watching NASCAR, dogs, gardening, dogs and above all spending time with her family. She was a first responder for the Searsboro Fire Department where Butch and Diana served for many years.

Diana’s memory will be honored by her two children, Tom (& Melinda) McVay of Toledo and Dorothy McVay of Tipton; three grandchildren: Blake McVay, Chaz McVay, and Christopher McVay; four step grandchildren: Kayla, Queta, Sal and Consuleo; two great granddaughters, Denver and Klarissa, and one on the way; her siblings: Richard Pate, Charlie Pate, Patricia Johnson, and Robert “Buster” Pate; her biological father, Gordon “Boo” Pate; many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Barney and Helen Pate; her biological mother, June Pate; and her husband, Larry “Butch” McVay in 2018.

Memorial services will begin at 1:00 pm Saturday, October 5, 2019 at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home in New Sharon.
A coffee time/visitation will follow the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in the family’s name.
