Oskaloosa Community Foundation and Spiral For The Foundation To Hand Out Final Checks

Oskaloosa Community Development Foundation and Spiral for the Foundation are happy to announce the following distributions. These distributions amounting to $71,404 were made possible due to the dissolution of the foundation due to inactivity and overlap of other foundations.

The foundation was created in 1984 with four main goals in mind: to encourage community funding and development while lowering the burden on the government, to promote social welfare, to help the poor, distressed, and underprivileged people, and to fight deterioration of the city. Some of the bigger projects that the Oskaloosa Community Development Foundation funded included the wooden playground in Edmundson Park as well as the Grant Elementary School playground.

In order to uphold the original intentions of the Oskaloosa Community Development Foundation, the foundation along with the spiral fund will be distributed thoughtfully to Mahaska County Homelessness Coalition, Mahaska County YMCA, New Hope Community, Oskaloosa Kiwanis, City of Oskaloosa Parks and Mahaska Future View.

These funds included the money collected in the spiral fountain that was in the Penn Central Mall for many years. Those monies were given to the Mahaska Future View with hopes to bring back the spiral and collect funds for continuing community projects.
