Oskaloosa Indians

by Jodi Steinlage

The girls’ soccer team was in action last night against conference rival Indianola. It was a well-fought battle between the two teams that unfortunately saw the Indians on the wrong side of a 2-1 game. The loss brings the Indians record to 6-8.

The girls put together their best 80 minutes of soccer for the season, but two fouls that led to a free kick and a penalty kick in the 1st half would find the Indians behind 2-0 at the half.

The Indians broke their scoring drought with a goal from Aleeya Cheney (assist Brittney DeMoney) in the 59 minute of the 2nd half. There were be plenty of other chances, but none would find the back of the net.

“These types of games are hard to swallow with taking the loss as the girls played an entire 80 minutes of great soccer. We are really starting to put things together and playing as a team with intensity, being aggressive, and heart that we had been missing the last several games. This is no better time to start hitting our stride as we finish out the regular season and head into regionals.”

“All the girls played phenomenal, but a special shout out to Maddy Crile who had the best game of her goalie career last night.”
