8th Grade Volleyball Finds Tough Grinnell Team

The A team lost a tough one with games scores 25-27, 25-23, and 8-15. Contributors were Celli Pilcher with 12 digs, Ireland McGraw with 3 blocks, Hannah VanArkel with 2 kills, one block, and one ace, Cadence Grubb with 1 kill and 3 blocks, Haylee Parker with 2 kills, 16 assists, and 5 aces, Cylee Smith with 9 kills and 8 aces and Jenna Harbour with 9 kills and 3 aces.

The B team came back and won a hard fought match with game scores of 18-25, 27-25, and 15-9. Contributors were Carly Hammond with 6 digs and 6 aces, Kennedi Wright with 3 kills and 8 assists, Kyleigh Carmer with 2 kills and 3 digs, Aleigha Sheets with 4 kills, Leah Lorentzen with 1 kill, 4 digs, and 6 aces, Kaylee Main with 1 kill and 2 aces, Kenna Grubb with 2 digs and 3 aces and Emily Medina with 2 kills.

The C team lost against a tough Grinnell team 1-3 and 0-3 by scores of 11-15, 15-9, 11-15, 12-15, 9-15, and 6-15. Top players were Katelynn Watts with 17/19 serving, nine aces, and one kill, Emma Rowley with 7/9 serving, one ace, and two kills, Nova Plate with three aces and two kills, and Paige Vandermeiden with two aces. Brooklyn Coenen also added one ace and two kills, and Maddy Brown notched one ace. Other contributors were Addicen Briggs with two assists and Hailey Montgomery with two kills.

We continue to see improvement and look forward to a couple of good matches next week. A and B teams travel to Pella Christian tonight. C team will play Osky Christian at home on Monday, and all teams will travel to Norwalk to take on the Warriors on Tuesday.
