8th Grade Volleyball Faces Tough Matches Against Pella Dutch
September 19, 2024 – The 8th grade volleyball girls took on the Pella Dutch in an intense series of matches at home on Thursday, showing resilience and determination despite some challenging results.
In the A1 team’s match, the girls fought hard but fell 1-2 to Pella, with set scores of 11-21, 11-21, and 21-15. Leading the charge was Taylen Parker, who racked up two aces, nine assists, three kills, and a dig. Aleigha Burton contributed with an ace, three kills, and two digs, while Isis Edwards added an ace, four kills, and two digs. Sienna Stout, Ally Goodman, Blair Rossi, Maci Ridenour, and Gracie Fox also stepped up with solid contributions across the board.
The A2 team emerged victorious after a tough battle, winning 2-1 with set scores of 9-21, 21-14, and 21-15. Kasie Deppe led the team with three aces and an assist, while Chloe Landgrebe, Macy Siroky, and Kailynn Playle provided key performances in serving and defense. Playle also added three digs to her stat line.
On the B1 team, the girls came up short in a close 1-2 loss, with scores of 10-21, 21-15, and 18-21. Zoila Keller led the way with four aces and a kill, while Lucy Gudith and Yoselin Gonzalez also made notable contributions on both offense and defense.
The B2 team also experienced a hard-fought 1-2 defeat, with scores of 24-22, 19-21, and 18-21. April Potter was a standout with five aces and four kills, and Taylor Wissler chipped in with three aces and two kills.
Looking ahead, the A1 and A2 teams will be traveling to Pella Christian tomorrow for a rematch with the Eagles. The girls are ready for round two and eager to showcase their growing skills and teamwork.
Despite some tough losses, the girls are showing great promise, and their dedication to improvement is evident as they continue to push forward in the season.
