8th Grade Girls Edge Past Newton

The 8th grade girls were back in action last night against the town of Newton. The girls won with ease last time against these girls but this contest was much closer. Our girls led as much as 8 points in the game but could not pull away. Newton fought back to a tie ball game which made our girls become timid and second guess themselves. This led to careless turnovers and lack luster defense. The girls were able to pull it together in the fourth quarter thanks too Gracce Flaherty for hitting 2 three pointers. Gracce led our team in scoring with 12 points which was extremely needed when we shot around 30% from the field as a team. The final score ended at 24-27 in favor of Oskaloosa.

The B team was back to their dominating ways of beating Newton by the score of 15-0. Anytime you can hold a team to zero points show we rebounded the ball and played good defense as a team. The B team was led by Olivia Gordon whom had 8 points on the night along with 4 rebounds.

The C team had an exciting finish. The girls were tied with less than a minute to go. Nayeli Nicolas drove to the basket, started to fall down but on her way down delivered a perfect pass for a game winning assist. Coach Knoot and I believe that was the best pass of the year. The girls won the game 4-2.
