by Jodi Steinlage
The 7th grade Volleyball was back in action last night as they hosted Pella Christian. All 3 teams were able to see court time versus the A/B teams of PC. Overall the girls would win 6 of 10 with all 3 teams showing continued growth from our first game.
The A-team moved their record to 2-0 and would take 3 of 4 with scores of 15-7, 11-15, 15-12, and 15-12. The girls battled hard on every point and showed a lot of focus on some very long rallies. The team was led by Lucy Roach with 6 aces and 2 kills followed by Presely Blommers with 3 aces, Maleah Walker and Kaia Cook with 2 aces each and Faith DeRonde with 1. Walker would also add a kill in the win.
The B-team (0-2) continues to grow and work together. They would take 1 of 3 with scores of 14-16, 7-15, and 15-10. We were very proud of the girls in battling back in the 1st set after being down 0-7 and making it competitive. The team was led by Katelyn Marsh with 4 aces followed by Adriana Ramos with 3, and Ally Nolan with 2.
The C/D team (3-0) would step up to the challenge of playing Pella Christians’ B team taking 2 of 3 with scores of 4-15, 15-12, 15-12. The girls are continuing to learn the game and showed a lot of hustle on several points. They were led by Isabelle Larson and Mackenzie Whennen with 2 aces each followed by Shakira Shillings and Macey Braden with 1 each.
The girls will be back in action on Thursday as they travel to Pella with a start time of 4:30.
