7th Grade Indians Earn First Win Over Grinnell

The 7th Grade Oskaloosa Indians got their first win of the season last night against a talented Grinnell team. The final score of the “A” game was 24 to 14. The defense stymied the Grinnell attack allowing only one Grinnell touchdown on the first play of the game. The rest of the game the Indian defense dominated the Grinnell offense. The leading tacklers were Martavious Knox, Donavon King, Tatum Westercamp, and Jarrod Parks. An Aidan North interception ended Grinnell’s last attempt to get back into the game.

The Indian offense showed great improvement over week 1 and had the offense moving up and down the field. Three drives ended in touchdowns by Braxton Voss, Jarrod Parks, and Trey Miller. All three 2-point conversions were successful to cap off the scoring in the “A” game.

In the “B” game the Indians jumped out to an early lead on a 20 yard touchdown run by Braeton Halverson. Due to some nifty running by Payton Beason and couple of receptions by Jaxson Wells-Stout, the Indians were able to move the ball most of the game. The “B” team defense consistently came up with big plays to keep Grinnell to only 6 points. Leading tacklers were Ryan Jennings, Raymond Franzen, Carson Simon, and Skylar Jarvis. The final score of the “B” game was 6-6.

The 7th graders next game is Tuesday, September 29th at Oskaloosa Community Stadium against Pella. Come out and see us play!
