7th Grade Girls Volleyball Continues To Improve

The 7th grade volleyball team was in action twice this week. On Monday, the team split with 2 teams going to Pella Christian and the other 2 going to Osky Christian.
The girls came out ready to play and already showed great improvement from last week’s game. The A-team won 2 of their 3 games with scores of 9-15, 15-13, and 15-7. The B-team won both of their games with scores of 15-12 and pulled through winning a very excited game of 20-18. Bailee Smith and Kenzie Meyers led the team each having 5 aces, followed by Lily Bonnett having 2 aces and one dig, Camryn Schultz and Lydia VanVeldhuizen both having 2 aces. Hannah Quang led the B-team with 4 aces, followed by Asia Thompson with 3 aces, Kelsey Alderson with 1 aces and 1 dig and Reese Milburn-Van Wyk with 2 digs.
The C team would battle hard against Osky Christina, but would fall in all 3 games with scores of 17-25, 14-25, and 13-25. The team was led in aces by Zoie Biddle with 3 followed by Maci Huebschen with 2 and Taylor Six, Kaylee Haugen, and Mia Shilling each with 1.
The D team would play its best volleyball of the young season and go 2-1 with scores of 25-19, 25-23, and 23-25. The team was led by Kaleigh Braden with 5 aces, Lilly Heckenburg and Grace Minter with 2 each and Brianna Davis, Cailey VanHemert, and Marley Fowler with 1 each.
The team would finish the week against Pella. The A-team would show many moments of greatness, but struggled some with the serve and would go 2-3 against the Dutch with scores of 10-15, 15-8, 7-15, 11-15, and 16-14. This moves their record to 1-2 The team was led by Lydia VanVeldhuizen with 1 ace and 1 kill, followed by Kenzi Meyers with 1 ace and 1 kill, Ellie Voss, Kassie Johnson, and Lilly Bonnett would each have 2 aces and Camryn Schultz had 1 ace.
The B-team would battle hard, but came up just short also falling 2-3 with scores of 15-12, 14-16, 8-15, 15-11, and 9-15. Also moving their record to 1-2. Hannah Quang’s serve was on fire serving up 11 aces with Kelsey Alderson, Asia Thompson and Sarafina Gituma with 1 each.
The C-team would get the victory against the Dutch with a 4-1 win. The scores were 15-11, 4-15, 15-11, 15-8, and 15-12. The win moves their record to 2-1. The team was led by Maci Huebschen with 7 aces followed by Hayley VanArkel with 6 aces, Cailey VanHemert with 5, Zoe Biddle and Mia Shillings with 4 each, and Kaylee Haugen and Emma Adams with 1 a piece.
The D-team would also battle hard, but fall 1-4 with scores of 8-15, 12-15, 18-17, 9-15, 12-15. The loss moves their record to 1-2. The team was led in aces by Kaleigh Braden followed by Grace Glover with 5, Lilly Heckenburg with 3, Madi Andrews with 3 and Marley Fowler with 1.
The girls will be back in action as they travel to Grinnell to face the Tigers on Monday. Game time is at 4:30 at the middle school.
