7th Grade Girls Falls At Knoxville

The 7th-grade volleyball girls were in action last night against Knoxville. With a new team and a new year, the girls are still adjusting to each other and how each person plays. The A-team would show moments of great play but would lose all 5 games with scores of 4-15, 5-15, 7-15, and 9-15. Camryn Schultz led the team with 3 aces, 1 kill and 1 dig followed by Lydia VanVeldhuizen with 1 ace and 1 dig, Kassie Johnson with 2 kills and 1 dig, Lily Bonnett with 1 kill and Ellie Voss with 1 kill.

The B team also found stretches of great play but were unable to earn any wins falling with scores of 6-15, 11-15, 13-15, 9-15, and 10-15. The team was led by Kelsey Alderson with 4 aces and 2 digs followed by Asia Thompson with 4 aces, Hannah Quang with 3 aces, Reese Milburn-VanWyk 1 dig and Sarafina Gituma with 1 dig.

The C team came out with a lot of energy and found themselves on the winning side of their match with a 3-2 win. The scores were 15-10, 14-16, 15-11, 15-13, 12-15. The team was led by Mia Schillings with 6 aces, Hayley VanArkel with 4, Zoie Biddle and Taylor Six with 3 each and Cailey VanHemert with 1.

The D team would start out slow losing the first 3 sets, but finished strong and won the last 2 sets with scores of 12-15, 7-15, 2-15, 15-13, 18-16. The team was led in aces by Briana Davis with 2, Serenity McDonald, Kaleigh Braden, Madison Andrews, Grace Glover, and Lily Heckenberg each had 1 a piece.

“We have been proud of how the girls have come out and worked hard. We have several things to work on, but look forward to seeing where the girls can go this season.

The girls will be back in action on Monday with the team splitting between Pella Christians (A and B) and Osky Christian (C and D).
