The Oskaloosa 7th Grade girls team fell to Norwalk, but ended a successful season at 7-5.

The Oskaloosa 7th grade girls basketball team took on Norwalk Tuesday night in their final game of the season. The A team girls started off slowly seeing a 1/2 court zone defense for the first time all season. Norwalk’s sagging zone defense caused the Indians problems as we went scoreless for the first 3 minutes of the game. The Indians continued to battle but we a step slow defensively and found themselves down 9-19 at halftime. The defense was much better in the 2nd half and the Indinas were able to claw back to within 4 at 26-30 with 2 minutes to go. Unfortunately, the Indians weren’t able to come back all the way as Norwalk was able to get some runouts versus the Indian defense and pulled away to win 37-27. The loss brought the Indians record to 7-5 on the season.

The B team came out firing and built a 6-0 lead at halftime. The Warriors controlled the 3rd quarter though and took the lead 6-8 into the final stanza. By the time the final horn sounded, both teams were tied 9-9. The teams played a 1 minute overtime, but with no score, the game ended in a 9-9 tie.

The C team came out fired up and ready to play. The Indians scored 4 points in the 1st and 2nd quarters while holding Norwalk to only 1 point. The Indians won the game (which was only a half) by a score of 8-1. The win was the C teams 3rd of the season.
All in all it was a terrific season for the 7th graders. The coaches saw a lot of improvement from each player in terms of skills, knowledge of the game, and effort. They were very coachable and have shown a lot of potential for their next 5 years of basketball.
