#6 DCG Takes Two From The Indians

The Oskaloosa Indians hosted #6 ranked DCG Wednesday night in Little Hawkeye Softball action and DCG came away with a sweep winning 15-1 in game one and 7-4 in game two.

Game 1: DCG 15-1 Osky1 (4 innings)
DCG 15 runs, 17 hits, 0 errors
Osky 1 run, 2 hits, 4 errors

DGC scored first and often in game 1 against two Osky pitchers. DCG’s Reese Burke rapped out 4 hits and drove in 6 runs in the 15-1 win to lead the Fillies. Olivia Gordon and Aubrey Boender rapped out the only two hits for the Indians. Presley Blommers drove in Osky’s only run with a sac fly in the first inning. Shannon Van Rheenen took the loss on the mound. She pitched 2 innings, giving up 7 runs, on 7 hits. She walked 3 and did not strike out a batter. Karly Grubb pitched the last 2 innings, giving up 8 runs on 6 hits. She did not walk or strikeout a batter.

Game 2: DCG 7-3 Osky
DCG 7 runs, 11 hits, 1 error
Osky 3 runs, 10 hits, 2 errors

Presley Blommers made her debut on the mound in game 2 for the Indians and only gave up 5 earned runs to the high scoring Fillies. The Indians trailed 2-1 going into the 3rd inning but the Fillies erupted for 3 runs in the inning on 4 hits. In game 2 for the Fillies, Izabella Mulder had the hot bat as she went 4-4, with 3 singles and a homerun. The Fillies would hit 3 homeruns in game 2. The Indians had a better showing at the plate in game 2 as they rapped out 10 hits, led by Presley Blommers going 4-4, with 2 rbi’s. Maleah Walker had 2 hits in the game and scored 2 runs. Olivia Gordon also rapped out 2 hits and drove in a run. Alexis Price and Hailey Harbour each had a hit in the game for Oskaloosa. Blommers pitched 7 innings, giving up 7 runs on 11 hits. She walked one batter and struckout one batter. With the losses the Indians fall to 7-10 overall and to 5-6 in the Little Hawkeye Conference. The Indians will travel to Newton Friday night for a JV2-JV1-V tripleheader. The first game will start at 4:00. The Indians then host the Indian Classic on Saturday at Lacey Complex. They will play #9 4A ranked Creston at 11:00 and then finish off the tournament by playing #8 ranked in Class 2A Louisa-Muscatine.
