52nd Annual Tenco Awards Banquet is Just Around the Corner

Tenco

Tenco’s 52nd Annual Awards Banquet will be held on Friday, April 7, at the Ottumwa High School Cafeteria. This year’s theme will be “Believers and Achievers” as we honor our hardworking clients for all their achievements in many areas of life; business partners, benefactors, and Tenco employees will also be recognized. For the people whom Tenco serves, the pure joy of being recognized as an independent adult spreads cheer throughout the room with high emotions of pride and accomplishment, making this a very special event for all in attendance.

Individuals served by Tenco enjoy coming to work on a daily basis, learning new skills while earning a paycheck, making them feel proud and motivated to start each day with a positive work ethic. Honorees include those served in Tenco’s Fairfield, Keosauqua, Oskaloosa, Centerville, Knoxville, and Ottumwa locations. Next year, this will likely also include the Chariton location, which just recently opened.

Tenco clients receive awards in many areas to include: the Mitzi Martin Award for overcoming adversity, hard work, and determination leading to personal success; the Top Effort Award for achievement in personal growth, skill development, and movement towards their independence; and the Independence Award for demonstrating outstanding growth in socialization and independence in their living environment. Last year Tenco added the Achievement Award for amazing ongoing achievements and optimism. Choosing individuals to be honored is a challenge, as all of those Tenco serves have succeeded in so many ways.

Community awards include the Employer of the Year Award for outstanding commitment to opportunities for meaningful employment; Business Partner of the Year for long-term dedication to the provision of organizational employment opportunities for individuals Tenco serves; Community Service Award for outstanding service and support carrying out our good work; Exceptional Service Award for extraordinary performance of multiple duties and responsibilities in support of Tenco; Exemplar Award to recognize a beneficent model of allegiance to Tenco; and Visionary Award in recognition of foresight and enhancement of the future of Tenco and individuals that we serve.

Tenco also recognizes our staff as well for going above and beyond in their daily service to people with disabilities.Tenco awards for staff include the Image Award for an outstanding reflection and vision portrayed to all and the Allegiance Award for loyalty, commitment and faithfulness to all. New this year will be the Advocacy Award presented to someone who has gone above and beyond in support to the mission of Tenco and supporting the clients that Tenco serves.

One new item for the program this year will be recognizing recent planned gifts from two outstanding Tenco supporters. This new item will be another way for Tenco to show appreciation for those who make the decision to support Tenco through estate planning. These friends are very important to Tenco and their generous gifts are the “life-blood” of the good work that Tenco is dedicated to continuing.
