Oskaloosa, Iowa – The Christmas season is rapidly approaching and the Oskaloosa Area Association of Churches is again sponsoring the Annual Tour of Homes. The profits from this years event will be given to Crisis Intervention Services. This will assist the Crisis Center in providing support, resources, and hope for a better future to persons affected by domestic abuse, sexual assault, and other crisis. This event will be on Sunday, December 4, 2011, from 1-4 p.m. The host church this year is First Christian church and the homes include Mike and Candy & Berklie Ireland, Tara Rozenboom, and Tom and Angie Grubb.

First Christian Church is located at 119 A Ave. East. Join them for coffee-time on Sunday, December 4 to meet for the rest of the tour. First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) Oskaloosa is a welcoming place where people feel a connection to God through Jesus Christ and a commitment to each other, our community, and the world. We strive to live our vision statement as we serve the community of Oskaloosa. There are many traditions that make First Christian Church an inviting place to worship and fellowship. We have traditional worship services with communion at the Lord’s Table every Sunday, Sunday school for all ages, and children and youth programs on Wednesday nights. Through the holiday season we will be lighting an Advent wreath as we prepare for the coming of the Christ child, every Sunday morning at 10am. All are welcome to join us this blessed season as we anticipate the hope, peace, joy and love shown to us through the Son of God. Have a blessed Christmas!

Tara Rozenboom invites you to visit her home, located at 309 North B. Her home is a 100 year old home, with 5 bedrooms, 3 living rooms, and approximately 2500 square feet! She have extensively updated, remodeled, and repainted this home and has just moved into it!! It is decorated in a chic modern style. Come see my home, enjoy the times together, and share the holiday season with me.

Mike, Candy, & Berklie invite you to visit them at 909 N B Street, a beautiful Victorian home built in 1910. It is approximately 1900 square feet with 3 bedrooms, 1 toy room and 1 bathroom upstairs and a half bath downstairs off our the dining room. We have lived here for over 2 years and have done a lot of painting in selected rooms, but other then that all of the wood work and flooring is in perfect condition. We love our house and at Christmas time it’s such a joy to to decorate, it’s absolutely beautiful!!! We are excited to have you visit our home and share the Christmas season!

Angie & Tom Grubb are located at

2183 228th Dr. On Sunday Nov. 13th we got a phone call to be in the Christmas tour of homes. Angie said why not it is for a great cause. So we thought we better get the Christmas decorations out and get busy. Tom and Angie Grubb built this house in 2008. The house sits on 2 ½ acres that used to be part of a farm field. The house plan and most of the construction was performed by Lee, Tom, and Angie Grubb. Just the roof, Sheetrock, and concrete were out sourced due to time constraints. Through the last 3 years Angie has accumulated lots of Christmas decorations, trees, lights, etc. that really add to the spirit of Christmas. Please come in and enjoy the Christmas decor because it will truly get you in the Christmas spirit.

We invite you to spend Sunday, December 4 afternoon, touring these homes, visiting with friends and preparing for the Christmas Season. Tickets are $10 and available in advance at The Book Vault and Mahaska Drug as well as First Christian Church, Central United Methodist Church, and First Presbyterian Churches. The day of the tour, you may buy your tickets at First Christian Church or any of the homes.
