1ST-TEAM SELECTION; HARDY EARNS SPOT ON 2ND TEAM GRINNELL’S SIPFLE REPEATS AS ALL-MWC
GRINNELL, Iowa – For the second year in a row, Grinnell College’s Nicole Sipfle ’13 has been named to the All-Midwest Conference Women’s Soccer First Team.
It is the third consecutive year Sipfle has been All-Conference after being selected to the honorable mention squad as a sophomore.
Grinnell had one other All-MWC selection, as Kathryn Hardy ’13 earned a spot on the second team.
Sipfle, a 5-6 midfielder from West Des Moines, Iowa (Valley), again led the Pioneers to a successful campaign which included a repeat trip to the MWC Tournament, where they lost to regular-season and eventual tourney champion Lake Forest. She finished the season with a pair of goals.
Hardy, a 5-6 defender from Sarasota, Fla. (Riverview), helped spark a strong Pioneer defense that tallied seven shutouts on the season and gave up just 1.51 goals a game. Her performance was critical in helping the squad go 7-3 in league play in 2012.
Both Sipfle and Hardy are Academic All-Conference performers, as well.
The MWC Offensive Player of the Year is Katie Vanden Avond of St. Norbert College, while Becky Esrock of Lake Forest was tabbed Defensive Player of the Year. Lake Forest’s T.R. Bell is the Coach of the Year.
